Case Consultation - September 2019

Description

Opening Ice-Breaker Question: Everyone Shares (15 min)
All of us have skills and strengths in certain areas. If we think about the things we do really well – we could call them our SUPER POWER. Think for a minute and share…..What is your “SUPER POWER”?
Sept Themes Introduction and Partner/Small Group Discussion (30 min)
We’ve talked about feeling “stirred up” in earlier groups. Because this can happen a lot, we are going to re-visit the idea of “finding calm”. Another way of saying this is having MINDFUL SELF REGULATION
Each day brings on a lot of daily management and juggling for us. Let’s think about how we find balance for ourselves during the day. In a partner activity (2 – 3 people). Write down all of the things that you notice you do during the busy, active days that “bring you calm” or help you feel settled.
As a group - try to come up with at least 15 things.
Large Group Discussion: (30 min)
Each partner group will share with the group the list of things that they do. Notice the similarities. Notice the differences. Think about all the possible things that can bring calm.
As a group we will answer these questions:
• What is it about doing these activities that help you feel calmer?
• How can we prompt ourselves to “find calm” when we are really worked up?
• When we are really feeling troubled sometimes, what helps us the most?
• What gets in the way of us finding ways to calm ourselves down?
Ending Question/Everyone shares: What are you going to remember/take with you from the discussion today? (10 min)
