Description |
This one-day seminar will provide an overview of both optimal and compromised trunk functional movement patterns in the toddler and very young child. Course participants will come away with enhanced knowledge of how to categorize and treat identified diagnosis-specific problems through correction of spine/rib malalignments and through targeted effective movement facilitation techniques. An integrated model of treatment will be presented, heavily based on facilitation techniques as taught by the NDTA (Neuro-Developmental Treatment Association), yet also inclusive of gentle manual therapy techniques appropriate for this young age group of children. For this course, we will not be using balls or moveable equipment in lab but will learn how to correct alignment and facilitate movement on the solid surface. Moveable surfaces will of course be discussed at end of day as a next step in treatment, but our emphasis for this course is to help each participant attain a deeper understanding of how to gain mobility in the spine and trunk, and how to facilitate optimal movement patterns. This course will be motor-based rather than sensory-based
