Supporting Families during a Medical Diagnostic - September 2019

Description

The ‘Medical Diagnostic’ process provokes an emotional journey for most parents. Understandably, parents may experience a range of emotional responses when the initial recommendation is made for referral to a medical diagnostic team, when waiting for the appointment date (since appointment availability usually requires some waiting), when receiving and digesting the information in the report, and when considering modification of the service plan. Service Coordinators play a pivotal role in assisting families navigate this process and are first-line providers in supporting parents. This workshop will utilize a reflective case consultation format with small groups of service coordinators (5-10) to share and discuss strategies Service Coordinators may use to help parents.
