Sensory AND Behavior: A Comprehensive Approach to Addressing Challenging Behaviors

Description

In this innovative course, Gwen will guide you through the neurological features and neurochemicals involved in sensory modulation, emotions, and behaviors, and introduce you to a whole-brain approach to addressing difficult behaviors (such as self-injurious behaviors, aggression, meltdowns, toilet-training, lack of focus, and masturbation) from a wholistic perspective. This in-depth, two-day course will leave you with handy forms, easily accessible intervention tools, a make & take project, and the knowledge you need to differentiate behavioral issues from sensory ones. You will learn to use a combination of best-practice, evidence-based approaches including sensory diets, cognitive-behavioral therapy techniques, reward systems, visual schedules, and a variety of brain-based strategies to meet the needs of your most difficult students.
