Professional Boundaries in Early Intervention

Description

Boundaries in Early Intervention are "limits which protect the space between the professional's power and the family's vulnerability." "Because interventionists work so closely with families, the boundaries between the parent/professional partnership and friendship can become blurred. This can happen for both people in the partnership, but ultimately it is the professional's responsibility to maintain the boundaries." This two hour workshop for Service Coordinators will address the importance of establishing and maintaining professional boundaries in their work with families in the Illinois Early Intervention System.
