Demystifying Occupational Therapy home programming for the non-OT provider

Description

As EI therapists, it can be difficult to maintain meaningful communication with other professionals on our teams. While we try to make effective and efficient use of our allotted IFSP time, it may not always be possible to discuss everything, or to know what questions to ask.

The purpose of this workshop is to help non-OT professionals understand and recognize why certain recommendations might have been made by the child's Occupational Therapist and some ways that you can support families in following through with home program recommendations made by the Child's OT. It is intended to help guide questions that you can ask the OT on your teams and to help incorporate and infuse activities into your sessions.

Topics covered will include weighted and compression vests, swinging and spinning, splinting recommendations, brushing, and more. Please come ready to ask questions and to share experiences.
