An Introduction to Reciprocal Imitation Training (RIT)

Description

Dr. Allison Wainer will a newly researched and developed early intervention approach called Reciprocal Imitation Training (RIT). RIT is a short term, evidence based intervention that focuses on teaching imitation of object use and gestures though play interactions. Unlike other intervention strategies, RIT is relatively simple and easy to learn and a very practical and successful approach for EI providers to use with families with children at risk for Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). The ultimate goal would be to get kids into ASD specific therapy sooner and also reduce the time that kids spend getting non-specific therapy prior to diagnosis.
