JOIN THE CONVERSATION: DEFINING & FACILITATING BEST PRACTICE IN OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY IN EARLY INTERVENTION IN ILLINOIS

Description

Come and join your OT colleagues in a conversation about current and future OT practice in EI in Illinois. Occupational therapy practitioners working in the Early Intervention Program in Illinois are challenged with balancing the requirements of the State of Illinois Early Intervention Program with recommended best practices within the field of occupational therapy. This course is the first of a series aimed at OT practice in EI in Illinois. This first course will explore best practice guidelines from AOTA, the state of Illinois Early Intervention Program and National Associations that guide practice in Early Intervention. These guidelines include AOTA’s distinct value statement, The AOTA Early Intervention Practice Advisory, The Seven Principles of Early Intervention in Illinois, The Early Childhood Technical Assistance (ECTA) Center Key Principles and Crosswalk. Small group discussions will investigate current practice in Illinois by providing participants opportunities to share their perspective. Current practices will be compared with these recommended practices. The goal of these discussions will be to generate a vision for future best practice in EI in Illinois and to develop an action plan for next steps.
