AAC and Autism: An Introduction to LAMP

Description

This training will offer an introduction to the Language Acquisition through Motor Planning (LAMP) therapy approach. The goal of the LAMP approach is to give individuals who are nonverbal or have limited verbal abilities a method of independently and spontaneously expressing themselves through the use of voice output augmentative alternative communication (AAC). Participants will learn briefly about the key elements of the approach and how these elements influence the design of an AAC language system. Demonstration and video examples will be used throughout the class.

Devices for this training are optional. If you choose to bring a device, please bring one of the following: Accent (800, 1000, or 1400), iPad or laptop with PASS software pre-loaded with the LAMP Words for Life language system.
