Conscious Reflection: The Neurology of Reflective Learning

This workshop is meant as a 'Kick-off' for those CFC #15 providers who are planning to participate in the Social Emotional Reflective Group series led by Mary Valerius, Social Emotional Consultant for CFC #15. In this first meeting led by Wendy Kolar, the neurological mechanisms involved in perception, beliefs, thoughts, emotions and actions.
The workshop will consist of present information, active discussion and reflective activities. Experiential activities will contribute to increased self awareness , which helps form the foundation for mindful self regulation.
Self reflection and reflective discussion around professional issues related to early intervention services within a relationship based paradigm increases the provider's ability to support families.
Providing services in a family setting , empowering parents to support their child's development in the face of potential challenges requires a thoughtful, regulated and reflective provider. This workshop will serve as the springboard for the continued reflective group series focusing on professional development for early intervention.
