Considerations in Hearing Impacting Speech and Language, Pediatrics and Adults, Including Cochlear Implants (CI).
Program Objectives:
1)Understand normal hearing, and dysfunctional hearing.
2)Understand how hearing loss/ deafness impacts children and adults.
3)Understand the history of and current impact of CI on pediatric population.
4)Understand selection process for CI candidacy.
5)Understand treatments that are available for unilateral hearing loss and deafness.
6)Understand the unique perspective of an audiologist with cochlear implants and challenges that exist.
7)Understand various applications that are available to assist with hearing impaired individuals.
8)Understand the recent trends in Assistive Technology for hearing and communication aids.
