The case consultation will use Mary Claire Heffron’s 3-part framework of relationship-based communication in Early Intervention of 1) how to be, 2) how to understand, and 3) how to influence. First we will review and discuss each of the 3 areas. Then we will use a case study and progress through each of the 3 areas in order to have a structured exploration of the needs of the family and the consultative stance of the service coordinator, resulting in improved skills of a relationship-based understanding, communication, and service provision.
