Deaf with Other Disabilities

Description

An estimated 20%-40% of children with hearing loss have a secondary disability. Because most interventionists have not been trained to work with these children, they can present a special challenge. This presentation provides information regarding the various characteristics, behaviors, and learning challenges presented by these children which down the road will show struggles in the classroom setting. learn teacher tips that can be used to enhance therapies for these children. This session will touch on many of the co-morbid disabilities that include hearing loss as a possible effect of the disability, including syndromes that have hearing loss listed as a possible symptom.
