Description |
Babies establish eye gaze and a social smile within the first couple of months of life. Some children, however, evidence atypical social-emotional development; which subsequently impacts how they learn, engage, communicate, and participate in routines. In this workshop we will revisit the major milestones related to social-emotional development within the first two years of life, how parents naturally teach engagement with infants, and how to utilize similar principles with children atypical developmental patterns. We will also investigate how to handle refusal, decreased motivation to engage, and elopement. All of these principles will then be generalized and practiced through play routines, and how to apply them to our pediatric population.
