Description |
All toddlers have tantrums, but not all tantrums are the same. Frequently clinicians want to quickly address tantrums and use strategies that have been used previously. However, the reality that every child and every family unit is different. Most times it is necessary for therapists to slow down and determine the reason for behaviors, in order to apply matching intervention strategies that will facilitate behavior reduction. We will discuss how to match interventions to function, investigate how to choose which behaviors require intervention and which may not, how to educate and support parents who may be in crisis, and finally we will apply these techniques to real scenarios.
