In Lori Overland's updated 1-Day Sensory/Motor Approach to
Feeding workshop, the complex issues surrounding feeding
disorders are discussed. The class reflects new research and
understanding of sensory processing and the impact on feeding.
Pre-feeding exercises designed to develop the underlying oral
sensory motor skills to support safe nutritive eating, and therapeutic feeding techniques are targeted for breast, bottle, spoon, up, straw, and solids. The techniques incorporate a variety of temperatures, textures and tastes. Also featured is hands-on learning of proper therapeutic techniques for spoon feeding, straw drinking and chewing solid foods.
