Developmental Delay - What Does it Mean?

Dr. Smith briefly discussed the history of medical training and how it has influenced the development of diagnostic terminology specific to mixed developmental delay, global developmental delay, and static encephalopathy. He reviewed the three ranges of intellectual disability, how they are assessed, and prognosis for each. Specific to assessments, Dr. Smith explained about measured deficit of the ability to learn and measurable impairment of adaptive behaviors.
