Milk Men: Dads, Breastfeeding Support, & Postpartum Mood Disorders

Description

This workshop teaches providers how to support dads to support breastfeeding. Research has shown that fathers’ knowledge and support of breastfeeding increases initiation and duration rates. the benefits of breastfeeding are enhanced when dads have the tools to support breastfeeding, including benefits for the baby, mother, and family in the realms of physiology, immunology, gastroenterology, health promotion, regulation, mental health, and economics. In addition, this becomes the perfect forum to discuss and educate families about postpartum mental health for both mother and father. Home visitors, early childhood specialists, pediatric providers, lactation consultants, and anyone working with infants and families are encouraged to attend.
