The Shattered Dream: Disability and the Feeling of Loss

Description

Parenting a child is hard work! Parenting a child with a delay or disability can be even more challenging. This discussion will help us think about what parents are going through as they are listening to results of evaluations and assessments, as well as navigating the early intervention process. Together we will work to understand what families experience when their child is diagnosed with either a diagnosis or a delay. A developmental delay can be just as devastating to one parent as a lifelong medical diagnosis is to another. We will explore the cycle of loss and grief and discover what we can do to support families during this process and when we need to seek outside help.
