Description |
During this session, participants will learn to intervene with families in crisis, specifically how to understand the behavior of family members and apply the appropriate response. Techniques discussed will include nonverbal communication, paraverbal communication, integrated experiences of working with families, and the verbal escalation continuum (and how to de-escalate when necessary). Participants will emerge with an understanding of various techniques to employ when working with families, especially in a crisis situation, by interpreting their behavior and interacting/engaging appropriately, and documenting the situation appropriately. Three key components of this training are respect, service and safety.
