The Take & Read Library Program: Promoting Language and Literacy Skills in the Home

Description

This presentation will outline the Take&Read Literacy Program that has been implemented within the Eisenhower Cooperative Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program’s early childhood and primary classrooms. The Take&Read Literacy program consists of interactive reading bags that each child receives and takes home on a weekly basis. The bags include an age appropriate book, post-reading language activities and materials, and a sign language dictionary with vocabulary for that specific book. The Take&Read Literacy Program includes an incentive program for students and frequent interaction with parents through the Class Dojo App. Outcomes, feedback, and further application will be discussed.
