Pretend Play as a Learning Opportunity

Description

Children around the world delight in pretending and research shows its benefits. Fun and educational, what a great combination! Yet young children seem to be less able to engage in sustained, complex imaginative play than previously. Participants in this session will consider how early childhood educators and other adults can support pretending while also guiding children’s growth of key skills, including executive function skills, social understanding, problem solving, language development, and early literacy
