Sensory Processing: Understanding the Basics

Description

This workshop is intended for those working in early intervention who do not already have an extensive background in sensory processing and are looking to gain insight into this topic. We will discuss the various sensory 'systems' and how they interact with one another to result in adaptive behavior. Our discussion will also be viewed through the lens of Dunn's sensory profiles ranging from sensory seeking to sensory avoiding, and the possible observable behaviors that may be present in the 0-3 population. We will also touch on the possibility of disorganized sensory responses in the varied diagnoses of children typically seen in the EI system. Reflective, experiential exercises will be part of this workshop.
Please note again that this workshop is for early intervention providers who may not yet have had extensive training in this area.
