When They Are Too Young to Speak Their Story : A brief synopsis of effects of trauma on infants and young children

Description

Join CFC 21 for a morning of networking with community agencies and learning more about trauma. The first hour will include a presentation by the East St. Louis WIC office discussing services, including screening for developmental delays and social/emotional difficulties, they provide in the community.

The second hour will include the presentation, When They Are Too Young to Speak Their Story: A brief synopsis of effects of trauma on infants and young children. During this time, we will explore how trauma sticks with young children, and what it may look like to those on the outside by their affect, behavior and interaction with others. Participants will gain a general understanding of intergenerational transmission of trauma and how many families, particularly those living in poverty, experience generational trauma effects.
