Description |
This workshop will provide participants an opportunity to learn, review, and actively reflect on social emotional theories. In doing so, service providers may gain personal insight into their own experiences, interpretations of others, and a deeper understanding of the complexities of child development and social emotional learning.
This workshop will consist of two 'parts' within the two hour time frame. During the first hour, lecture and discussion regarding historical theories and current trends in social emotional development of the child will be presented. The works of theorists such as Mary Ainsworth,
Edward Tronick, Selma Fraiberg, Bruce Perry and others will be presented.
During the second hour, participants will be asked to actively engage in discussion through guided reflection.
Questions will be provided for participants to help prompt reflection on their work with families. Participants will be asked to actively share, reflect, and contribute comments on work and/or personal experience (entirely voluntary, and with confidentiality/HIPAA in place).
