Description |
Sensory processing disorders are on the rise. These impairments have a significant impact on sensory-motor, emotional and social development. Ongoing assessment and treatment of infants and toddlers can significantly decrease the impact that these problems have on future learning and motor development. This course will focus on critical periods of development from 0-3 years of age, with emphasis on sensory processing, handling, and movement experiences, to facilitate play in the environment. Treatment strategies will utilize concepts of sensory integration, NDT and the use of play to create meaningful learning experiences and facilitate the child's participation in the environment.
Lab and case studies will be provided to reinforce the didactic
information.
**Students will need to bring a doll to practice facilitation
techniques.***
