Sensory and Reflex Integration

Description

In today’s environment, more and more therapists are treating patients with Sensory Processing disorders. A thorough knowledge of the 8 sensory systems and where they fall on the pyramid of learning is a must in navigating pediatric therapy. Also, as we learn more about primitive reflex integration it is imperative to understand those reflexes and what happens when they do not properly integrate during development. Learning how to meet a child “where they are” and developing and executing an effective treatment plan is the ultimate goal.

Sensory and Reflex Integration: Foundations for Learning will take you through the 5 guiding principles of Sensory Integration. Utilizing an in-depth tour of each of the sensory systems and discussing where they fall on the pyramid of learning, you will participate in small group labs to brainstorm treatment ideas, then re-group to share thoughts and best practice ideas. An overview of the primitive reflexes and their integration processes will introduce you to fresh treatment ideas for your challenging patients. Finish the day with movement break-out sessions, designed to get you up, moving, and excited to return to your practice the next day with new and innovative treatment tools!
