CISPA fall conference: Treatment approaches for medically complex patients in pediatric feeding and swallowing: All the angles

Description

This is an intermediate to advanced level course which will focus on learning to develop a multi-pronged treatment for infants and children over the age of 6 months who present with complex feeding and swallowing disorders. This course will be similar to last year’s course, but will highlight teaching complex oromotor skills (such as chewing, open-cup and straw drinking), normalizing sensory skills, discussing technology and behavioral approaches.

Learning Objectives
• The participant will describe explicit techniques to teach complex oromotor skills.
• The participant will detail the critical sensory systems and means to address each system in treatment.
• The participant will develop an understanding of how and when to integrate technology and behavioral management into treatment settings.
