Pediatric Neurodevelopmental Disorders (Potter)

Description

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is a federal law that supports the provision of public education for all children regardless of the nature or severity of their disability. Providers must be able to implement effective strategies to achieve the measurable individualized goals in the child’s mandated service or educational plan. The increased prevalence of autism spectrum disorders has become a great challenge to early intervention and education programs and is now more common than cerebral palsy.

This one day, interactive workshop will provide essential evidence-based information and practice in strategies that participants can use with children and families affected by the most common neurodevelopmental problems. Participants will be provided with information about the motor characteristics and pathology associated, current principles of motor learning, and evidence supporting interventions to promote a child’s ability to function more independently, set and achieve collaborative goals, and maximize participation at home, school, and in the community. Return to your practice with tools to immediately implement the best interventions, the latest research, and safely challenge children with a range of neurodevelopmental disabilities.
