Teaching the Challenging Child

Description

Young children with delays often exhibit challenging behaviors, making teaching new skills difficult. Several techniques from the behavioral literature have been demonstrated to be effective for decreasing maladaptive behaviors and increasing appropriate ones. These techniques can be easily incorporated into group or individual teaching and most are programmed to fade to social reinforcement (e.g., praise) once the target behavior is established.
