Why Our Children Don't Sit Criss-Cross Applesauce: The Decision to prioritize Child Engagement Over Compliance

Description

This session will explore the forces that lead many schools to enforce rigid behavior expectations and restrict children's movement and interactions, as well as the implications on children's cognitive, physical, and social-emotional development. We'll discuss the advantages of early education practices informed by child development knowledge, the long-term benefits to children and our society, and the steps we can take to get there.
