Professional DIR-FCD Model Certificate in Emotional, Social and Cognitive Development - Certificate Level 1 - Basic Course

Description

This one-year intensive certification course will use the DIR-FCD model to guide assessment and intervention for social-emotional development in infants/children with special needs and their families. In addition, the topics will include Foundational Capacities for Development (FCD), working with/coaching parents, and working within an interdisciplinary team. The DIR-FCD model builds upon establishing relationships and engagement at any point in development; respecting individual differences from the perspective of occupational therapy, speech and language pathology, psychology and education; and direct work with families. The nexus of the DIR-FCD model are the Functional Emotional Developmental Levels (FEDL’s), i.e., the building blocks of development. This course highlights assessment as intervention and uses the developmental levels to guide intervention with infants/children with special needs and their families. The strength of this clinical model is in the interdisciplinary approach to intervention. The course curriculum allows participants to integrate different discipline perspectives in clinical and educational domains.
While watching webcast lectures and participating in online and face to face interactive classes participants will have the opportunity to share their work in assessment and intervention with experienced, highly regarded Profectum Faculty. Participants will receive feedback and be guided through clinical reasoning on their own cases during classes and reflective tutoring sessions.
TA new systematic interdisciplinary curriculum provides the theoretical knowledge and applied clinical and educational foundations for integrated assessment and intervention at an introductory level. Participants are required to share their work in assessment and intervention and demonstrate competency in applying basic DIR-FCD principles. This intensive one-year program, led by a Profectum Faculty instructor, offers a combination of required webcast lectures, online and face to face interactive class participation, and reflective tutoring. Application is required for those who would like to obtain a Professional Certificate from Profectum Academy. Those early interventionists who want to integrate the Profectum DIR-FCD model into their practice should apply.
