Description |
The use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) with very young children has been growing over the years, but that growth continues to be slow due to limited training for professionals and the number of myths regarding appropriateness of AAC for children in Early Intervention. This workshop with provide an overview of some of those myths and explore the appropriateness of AAC in EI through a developmental lens. Participants will learn simple tips for choosing and teaching vocabulary and will have the opportunity to explore AAC options from low- to high-tech. The workshop will end with hands-on implementation practice using common therapy activities.
