Language Acquisition through Motor Planning (LAMP)

Description

This workshop is designed for speech language pathologist, teachers, occupational therapist, parents and anyone who supports individuals who are nonverbal. We are pleased to offer ASHA CEUs. Language Acquisition through Motor Planning (LAMP) is a therapeutic approach based on neurological and motor learning principles. LAMP gives individual who are nonverbal have limited verbal abilities a method of independently and spontaneously expressing themselves with a voice output AAC device. The components of LAMP address the features and vocabulary available on the device as well as the method of teaching communication while taking into account the individual's sensory needs.

Participants will get an overview of components of the LAMP treatment approach: readiness to learn, joint engagement, and pairing of a unique and consistent motor plan with auditory output and natural response.
