TV shows, movies, smart phones and tablets can be a lifesaver for parents of young children, but what impact does media exposure have on the developing brain? This presentation will review the latest research on various media types and early development. This session will also discuss the American Academy of Pediatrics’ recommendations for appropriate media use as well as potential beneficial uses with young children.
Presentation Objectives:
1. Review prevalence of media exposure in infants and young children and recent research on the impact on early development and behavior.
2. Discuss the “media diet” and beneficial uses for media.
