A Mindful Approach to Unconscious Bias

Description

This session will explore variety of unconscious biases that might be in play when early childhood educators interact with culturally different families who have children with special needs.

Being mindfully present for one’s own reaction to difference and having practical skills for choosing the best course of action is a logical next step after uncovering unconscious bias.

Participants will explore a Personal Leadership approach to managing unconscious bias. PL is a model that offers specific practices that support and sustain one’s ability to be mindful and creative in challenging situations involving differences.
