ADHD, Sensory and Social-Emotional Challenges (Sanghvi)

Description

Our children are growing up in a busy world which may lead to difficulties with processing the information they are bombarded with throughout the day. This contributes to increased anxiety in children and results in high stress at home, school and social settings. We need to understand the demands being placed on children, where the challenge begins, and how to appropriately support them with strategies and coping mechanisms. Our children can be taught to adapt and cope with different situations. The objective of intervention is to improve sensory processing so that the information is effectively registered and modulated, as well as encourage children to form adaptive responses to organize behavior and learning. The overall goal should promote focus and concentration, engagement and intentional communication without increased stress and anxiety. It is our job to help support families and other professionals in this dynamic evolution.

This interactive one-day workshop will provide a way to systematically analyze various environments and the triggers that lead to anxiety and problematic behaviors. Participants will acquire several treatment strategies and coping mechanisms to support the child and family in an appropriate manner. They will learn how prioritize the needs of the children, providing support at the foundation and then building upon that. You will leave this workshop with effective strategies, interactive techniques, visual supports and movement activities that can be incorporated into treatment immediately to promote improved body regulation and decreased anxiety.
