Clinicians will discuss an article by Gulsrud, Hellemann, Shire, and Kasari that was published in the Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry in 2015. The article, titled “Isolating active ingredients in a parent-mediated social communication intervention for toddlers with autism spectrum disorder” examines individual parent predictors and specific strategy mediators of joint engagement.
- Course participants will learn about recent research that dissects a parent-mediated intervention into individual parent predictors and specific strategy mediators that had the strongest impact on joint engagement
- Course participants will learn how to evaluate the research article for scientific rigor
- Course participants will learn how to apply the research findings to their own clinical practice
- Course participants will learn how to disseminate the research findings in a parent-friendly way to families of children on their caseload
