The majority of the presentation is a mulitmedia, PowerPoint presentation with photos and video. There are several areas of the presentation which lend themselves to good open discussion. Several orthoses are used to show different types available and how they can be used to orthotically manage crainial deformations and common pathologies found in the pediatric patient population.
This presentation will provide an in-depth conversation regarding the developmental effects of poor postural trunk alignment and stabilization caused by weakness or a neuromuscular deficit.
The presentation will include a short review of the physiology of tone and proprioception, followed by a discussion on Hypotonia and Hypertonia, and how they can be orthotically managed.
