Description |
Life is a stressful experience! At all ages and stages of human development, stress is able to influence our ability to grow, develop, learn, and perform at our best. Luckily, as human beings we are exquisitely designed to deal with stress. In this workshop, participants will be introduced to the stress response system as a means for laying a foundation for understanding the ways in which stress is processed by and influences the nervous system. We will discuss different types of stress and the buffering role of care giving relationships. We will also focus on different types of stress experienced by young children during the early childhood years and the ways in which research has demonstrated it can alter a person’s life trajectory. Risk and resilience variables will be introduced as a means for laying the foundation upon which we can create strategies that we can use in our work with young children.
