The Developmental Profile-3 Global Assessment Tool

Description

The Developmental Profile 3 (DP-3) is a completely new, standardized and updated revision of the DP-11 (Alpern, Boll & Shearer, 1986) that has been deemed a well established measure of a child's level of development across all five developmental domains. It has been approved and added to the Approved Assessment Tool list for use in Illinois in determining eligibility as well as tracking development and providing support in determining real-life strategies. This training will provide start to finish coverage in using this tool effectively and efficiently. It will address the list of necessary items to have or utilize in the home environment, ideal features of a comprehensive assessment tool, identifying the critical function of each testing element, helpful hints in observation/analysis, routines-based interview with parent/caregiver, completion of the protocol, floor time scenarios, using scoring charts and computation of scores and potential adaptations. The trainee will participate in mock-up evaluations and learn how to then incorporate the information gained from this tool into the EI-Illinois standardized report format as well as interpret and verbally present the results of the assessment tool.
