Securing Services in Early Intervention and Special Education: Tools and Resources for Professionals

Description

This workshop is designed for practitioners who want to understand the Early Intervention (0-3) and Early Childhood Special Education (3-5) systems, and the critical role they play in supporting children who have or are at risk for developmental delays to access these services. Participants will be provided the resources and information they need to ensure that children are screened, evaluated and provided services, and how to partner effectively with EI and ECSE providers. Participants will also be introduced to federal and state inclusion initiatives, including Illinois’ quality rating and improvement system, ExceleRate, and the 2015 joint federal policy statement on early childhood inclusion. The workshop will include a presentation, discussion, and problem-solving format to address challenges that practitioners face in their daily work.
