Early Intervention and Creative Play

Description

Picture a recent breakthrough moment during an interaction or therapy session with a child where both of you were fully present, completely engaged, curious, and growing together. As early childhood educators, we strive to create more of these moments. But how? Recent research has shown a link to improved learning when our brains are “curious.” Therefore, early childhood practitioners hold a golden opportunity to expand communication learning outcomes simply by sparking curiosity in each and every child they teach…even the ones who seem unmotivated. This workshop will present multiple tools and strategies to use during play to problem solve moments when we “get stuck” and feel a lack of motivation in our clients or ourselves. Pairing these practical hands on experiences with a deeper understanding of current research and developmental communication expectations, early childhood practitioners will be able to immediately apply these practical concepts with their own cases. The goal of this workshop is to help you understand the clinical problem solving process, the tools available, and provide a framework to guide participants to the next breakthrough moment with children on our caseloads.
