Building Bridges: The transition Process from Early Intervention to Early Childhood

Description

By 2 ½ years of age, children and their families receiving Early Intervention services (IDEA
2004- Part C) begin the transition process to determine if the child is eligible for Early
Childhood Special Education services (IDEA 2004- Part B) beginning at age three. This state developed,
standardized, and collaboratively-delivered training focuses on the requirements of
the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA), Illinois State Board of
Education, and Illinois Department of Human Services to provide a smooth and effective
transition for children and their families. Join parents and professionals in early intervention,
community care and education, and early childhood public education, to explore the
requirements and effective strategies for this transition process. Elements of this process,
including transition meetings, role responsibilities, timelines, state forms, vital
partnerships and collaborative relationships, will be addressed.
This workshop is being held in collaboration with the Illinois Early Intervention Training Project.
