Description |
Childhood Apraxia of Speech is a neurological childhood speech sound disorder in which the precision and consistency of movements underlying speech are impaired in the absence of neuromuscular deficits. It is important for all professionals that work with children with communication disorders to have an understanding of Childhood Apraxia of Speech as the treatment approach differs compared to children with expressive language delays and other speech sound disorders. This one hour workshop is aimed to improve participants’ understanding of Childhood Apraxia of Speech, principles of motor learning as it relates to speech production, and treatment approaches for Childhood Apraxia of Speech for young children in early intervention.
