Case COnsultation - February 2016

Description

For this case consultation we discussed supporting families understanding of early intervention is their role of service coordinator. Different scenarios often emerge in working with families around "what EI is". It may be a parent who doesn't understand that they need to be present during the intervention sessions with the therapists or a parent who eagerly asks for "more time" or getting more services for their child. In both scenarios the parent may be unaware of "the process" that EI is.
This case consultation group was an opportunity to explore how the SCs share information with families about EI and help them understand the process that EI is. The hope of strengthening their understanding is that it will engage the parents more fully and help reduce any frustrations that could develop without a full picture.
