Description |
Review current assessment strategies for children with severe speech impairment (aged 1–7), including possible childhood apraxia of speech. Videotaped examples support the discussion, which emphasizes differential diagnosis based on diagnostic markers and interpretation of a child’s responses during assessment tasks. The relative effects of motor speech impairment and cognitive/linguistic skills upon a child’s communication disorder are considered. Participants interact with the content through multimedia case studies and self-assessment activities.
