Treatment of the Child with Hypotonia

Description

This course focuses on the pathophysiology and body
system impairments that interfere with function in children with congenital hypotonia, including those who later are
diagnosed with cerebral palsy, genetic disorders (including Down Syndrome), and muscular dystrophies. Labs with adult lab partners will address strategies to gain active postural
stability and movement control. The instructor will also treat two children and lead discussion afterwards.
This course is designed for PTs, OTs, Speech Pathologists, and PT and OT assistants. Participants should wear
comfortable clothing, preferably shorts and T shirts for labs.
