Family Reflections: Who am I and who are you?

Description

A critical part of working with young children is relationships with families. It is imperative for providers to be aware of the impact of their own family background on their interactions as well as an understanding of the varied situations and experiences of the families they work with. A combination of content and discussion will be offered on the topic with an emphasis on application. Basic IDEA regulations in relation to IFSP's and IEP's will be covered. Examining diversity in families, types of diversity and living in poverty. Learning to focus on strengths, ongoing communication, and cultural reciprocity. Preparing for age three transition. This will include some reflective work in groups.
