The Role of Medical Diagnostics in the Early Intervention System

Description

This is an "in house" training for CFC #15 Service Coordinators. This training will give participants an understanding of how and why medical diagnostics became part of Early Intervention. It will help participants gain a better understanding of what might be expected in seeking a medical diagnostic, and how a medical diagnostic may benefit a family. We will discuss when a diagnostic might or might not be beneficial, and the possible service provision impact of a child receiving a "medical" diagnosis. We will also discuss how some typical diagnostics take place, so that service coordinators may gain a clearer picture of expectations for the actual experience a family may encounter when pursuing a diagnostic.
